Leah's 4th Birthday

Last night was Leah's very first "friends" birthday party. She picked the theme of "Princess and the Frog". Due to snowy weather, 3 of her 5 friends were able to make it- Makenna, Ally, and Lauren. It was so fun to see Leah's excitement for her party. She went down for an afternoon nap right before it and when she woke up and saw all her decorations, she gasped and said "This is all for my party. It looks so nice mommy." It made me feel good that she appreciated all of my hard work. When her friends arrived, the all played for awhile then ate supper then played some games like "Stick the Lips on the Frog" and "Musical Lilypads". Next the played some more then ate cake and last, opened presents. She got a bunch of fun presents like: a Princess Cool Bake Oven, lip gloss, nail polish, Barbie and outfit, and an Ariel doll. Can't believe our first born is already 4 years old! Where did the time go? Anyways, we still have one more party to do with the family tomorrow and Leah is exicted. All these parties for one special girl.

Halloween!

The kids had a fun time trick or treating the streets of Le Sueur. It's weird to see how much Leah has changed and how her confidence has grown in the last year. She had no problem walking up to a strangers house to say trick or treat and didn't really need us by her side. How our little girl is growing! It was fun seeing her have fun. She told us while we were walking that "This is so fun!" Jackson did great just watching Leah do her thing while he sat in his stroller. He kept warm in his fun little "Abu" costume! As the kids were in their innocent Disney costumes, daddy sported a scary mask. Leah wasn't too sure about it at first but then it grew on her and she even wore it a few times. In addition to trick or treating, we went to my friends home the night before to check out their "Tunnel of Terror". Even Leah had the guts to walk through with mom and dad while Jax slept peacefully in the car with a babysitter. We told them to keep it mellow since their was kids going through and we thought that was freaky! As with anything, this holiday went too quickly and now onto the next one!

Kids Say the Darnedest Things

The other night when we completed saying our bedtime prayers we were talking with Leah about how praying makes Jesus happy. Then Leah asked if Jesus is wearing his pajamas. Kim replied "Yes, of course he is." Leah said "Jesus is going to go to sleep in my heart." Kim said, "Jesus is in everybody's heart." To which Leah responded "There must be a lot of Jesuses out there!"

WI Dells Getaway

We had a great time being in the Dells for a few nights. We just needed the time away and seemed like the perfect amount of time. We were a little worried about how Jackson would do but he was his usual happy, calm self the entire time! What a good boy! Leah did great too and was happy that Grandpa Tom and Grandma Vicki were with too. Too bad Grandpa Tom was sick a day but we still had fun- going to the deer park, swimming, campfires, watching daddy and mommy race go-karts, and going to the waterpark. Over all the activities we did, Leah's favorite seemed to be staying at the "little house". She told us that last day that she wanted to say goodbye to Shelby and Kacie (our dogs at home) then live in the "little house" forever. What a cutie!

Laundry Time

We thought it would be cute to take a picture of Jax in the laundry basket and big sister Leah had to too!

Summer Happenings

Can't believe it's been about 2 months since our last post! Sorry to those who've been checking. I tried to update things about both kids on the side and new pictures. Hope you're all enjoying your summer. Can't believe it's only a month until Labor Day! Can't figure out why we live in a state where there's only 2 1/2 months of real summer. Anyways, a lot has been happening since we last posted. Where do I start? I'll start with Jackson.

He's been growing a lot. Now weighs about 14 pounds and seems long and skinny. Jarrod thinks he maybe a running back in football someday. Who knows?! Jackson (aka- Jax) has been eating cereal once a day everyday for about 2 weeks now. He really anticipates that spoon coming towards him! I plan to start some new food in the next week or two. I'm really in no hurry as they grow so fast too soon! All that will come. Jax is really into toys now. He LOVES his car steering wheel toy and his tool workbench. Watching him play with those is so fun just seeing his little legs kick and his body rock back and forth. He's been to the pool a number of times now and loves watching the other kids and splashing in the water. At first, he was a little chicken but is used to it now. Jax is such a happy, mellow baby compared to our firstborn. I had this instinct when I was pregnant and remember people saying that your next one will be so different and they were right, so far! Not saying Leah was a bad baby, just a little more "girly fussy". Needless to say, Jax has been wonderful and hopefully will continue that!

Now onto Leah, she's impressed us each day by how well she's with Jax. She likes to help out still either by giving him a toy, entertaining him while we do a quick pick up of the house, or change his diaper. She's a great little mommy. There's some cute pics of them together playing toys. Can't take enough pics! Other things Leah has been busy with is playing with her friend Ellie- going to the pool, park, and playdates. She rode on a few rides at Kolochkey Days in Montgomery. Got a little scared on one ride and had to get off. Jarrod and I were laughing as well as the Carnie. She went to 4th of July parade and fireworks at the farm with daddy. Jax and I stayed home and turned in early. Didn't think he'd get much out of it. This weekend, Leah will keep busy watching another parade for Giant Days in Le Sueur with "Bumpa", which is her Le Sueur grandpa (our neighbor). She's probably at their house everyday along with our dog, Kacie getting a cookie or telling them the latest news.

This coming week, the family is heading to WI Dells for a few nights of fun. Hopefully the weather cooperates and both kids are at their best! We'll try not to be so slow on our next post!

Picture Day

Weekend fun

It's been fun this busy weekend. Jarrod took the day off Friday to spend with the family so we took Leah bowling for the first time. Her favorite part was wearing the shoes! She told us that she wanted to take them home. Her attention to the game was pretty good. She loved using the ramp to push the ball down, which seemed to help her speed too. Then we had some fun playing arcade games. Jarrod taught Leah how to play Buck Hunter. You never know, maybe she'll be a famous hunter one day. Jackson just took all the sites in and didn't fuss once. What a good baby!
He rolled over from his tummy to his back last Friday and haven't seen him do it since. Oh well. They grow fast enough the way it is. I swear he's getting his first tooth and can even feel something in there but Jarrod thinks I'm full of it. I guess Jackson will show us! Leah is impressing us everyday in how much of a great sister she is. Jackson was fussing in the car today a little bit and Jarrod and I were trying to calm him down by singing and talking. Sure enough, Leah sings him Twinkle, Twinkle and quiets down! She has the magic touch. It's so cute watching him look at her in awe. What a cute pair we have!

Spring Update

Sorry, been awhile since our last update. I guess we can say, life has been busy! Leah is adapting very well to being a big sister. She's always there for Jackson- helping change his diapers, making him happy when he cries, singing songs to him, and washing him during bathtime. We are so proud of the good big sister she's becoming. Her new favorite movie is Princess and the Frog. She knows almost every song in it along with some phrases. Maybe she's watched it a little too much? She's now learning her letters and their sounds. She loves drawing the "H", which later becomes a square. She's still very into dressing up like a princess and probably does this everyday. She's always talking, which is a great thing but can drive you nuts if you're having a conversation with others!

Jackson (aka- Jax for short) is growing everyday it seems like. As of 3 months old, he was 12 pounds 2 ounces. He's now getting into his 3-6 month clothes. Kind of sad to pack away some of the 0-3 month ones! He's now babbling a lot and laughing. He is never crabby and seems to be just a happy little guy! Lots of smiles! He loves his big sister, TV, books, bathtime, and being out and about. All in all he's a pretty calm baby for now.

Kim was nervous about balancing 2 kids, work, and household chores but is doing well with it and can even take them grocery shopping! I'm sure that will get more tricky once Jax is walking but will enjoy for now. She wishes she could work less but appreciates the 4 days off every week that she has with them. Jarrod is doing a great job balancing things when he has to pick them up after work and having to be alone with them for 3 hours! He was nervous about this but is now a pro!

We're looking forward to spending lots of time outdoors and the small happenings this coming summer. I think these are the best times in life; being with your little ones and watching them grow into these little people (Not sure if Jarrod would agree :) ) We'll try and update this more often so keep tuned!

The next chapter

It's been awhile since we last posted. Guess we have to say, life has been crazy lately! Just with dr. appointments, a zillion Christmases, extra hours of work, getting the house ready, etc. is enough to say- busy! Leah and mommy had special time together before Christmas and goto see Disney Princess On Ice. Watching Leah in awe was pretty precious. I didn't think she would sit as good as she did but she loved every minute! Leah has also loved all the attention the past month with her birthday and Christmas and now soon to have a brother! She still likes to talk about all the things she got for her birthday and Christmas like her dollhouse daddy built her, all the fun clothes, princess toys, Barbies, and so on. Now with the baby on the way, she's been in his room everyday playing with his stuff and putting toys in his crib. Whenever we get a present from someone for her brother, it's fun to watch her say"Oh, it's so cute" or "That's for my brother!" She doesn't seem a bit jealous, yet. We definitely know she understands he's coming but not sure if she understands how soon. She'll be such a good big sister- we see it already. We think Leah is ready for this change in life and will love it. It'll be a big challenge having two children but will be worth every sleepless night and will love every minute! Leah has been our life and watchinng her grow into who she is now has been beyond words. So we're very excited for this new added chapter and can't wait for the next thing!
