Long time, no blog!
For those of you who follow our blog, it's been quite awhile- well about a year and 4 months since our last post. Guess, life just passes us by. Hard to keep up with facebook, email, linked in, and a TON of other connections/sites. Anyways, SO many things have happened since then!
For one, Leah no longer goes to preschool, she will be entering 1st grade this fall at St. Anne's School. She loved everything about kindergarten, never complained about having to go. I would say some of her favorite things about kindergarten were- wearing a uniform, Walk Jog Run (running challenge during recess every MWF), seeing friends everyday, reading, and math. I'm probably forgetting a ton of other things but those were things she talked about frequently. We can't believe all the changes she's made from entering kindergarten to finishing. The books she is able to read now is amazing! She even knows how to pause at a comma, raise your voice for a question mark, and so on. It helps that she really enjoys reading. She also really improved at her handwriting. Besides the classwork, she was able to go out on a few field trips- Childrens Museum, MN Zoo, and Elko Speedway. I was lucky to chaperone some of those. She also was in 2 school musicals for Christmas and Spring. Always fun to watch those. She gets so animated up there! We gave her the choice this year to be in either dance or gymnastics. Can't believe some people do both! She chose gymnastics and is sticking to it this year as well. She was always pumped to go every Tuesday. Her favorite area of it was doing the bars. I have to admit, I was a little sad she didn't choose dance but am happy she is excited and loves gymnastics. This spring/summer, she was in t-ball. Another fun activity to watch. Some kids are really into it while other are sitting on bases or eating sunflower seeds. Her last day is this coming Thursday. She will have a short break then do a session of swimming lessons. Yet, another passion of hers. Such a fish in the water!
Jackson is now almost 3 1/2! Proud to say, he's potty trained and don't miss those diapers! That was a challenge but we got through it. Stickers and rewards were the trick for him as well as getting rid of the diapers and putting on big boy underwear. It's kind of embarrassing but he's pretty proud of his boy parts. Always talking about it. Maybe it's a boy thing? One thing that has significantly changed is his growing language. I know earlier at about 2 years old, I was worried since he was a little delayed in speaking in sentences but now he can't be quiet! I guess that's how it usually goes! Toys he really enjoys now are- cars, trucks, Ninja Turtles, guns, and animal toys. A new TV show he's grown to become addicted to is 'Power Rangers' and 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'. I think he loves all the fighting. Reminds me of my brothers.
We are keeping busy so far this summer. Hard to believe it's almost the middle of July already. We've been enjoying the boat Jarrod remodeled. Took it a few times to some nearby lakes. Leah loves the speed but Jackson is a little more hesitant. He kept telling Jarrod "Go slowly, daddy". Give him time, he'll change his mind! We decided to buy a season pass to Valleyfair this year so have already used that about 4 times. Already are past our money's worth! It's nice that it's only 30 minutes away. Jackson probably talks about it everyday. Loves those big rigs! It's nice that Leah is past the height requirement on most rides- we can enjoy them then too!
The summer is not over so there's much more to enjoy! Hopefully we will post sooner this time!
